Mahout Shirt - Handspun Handwoven Kala Cotton - Cloud

A classic men's pullover shirt with a Nehru collar, 4 button placket and full length sleeves. Front pocket and side slit details complete the look. Made from cloth that is as meaningful as it is beautiful; handspun and handwoven kala cotton cloth. 

Cloth handwoven from handspun threads had a central role to play in countering the displacement of family life that took place during industrialization and British colonization in India. It embodies an idea of cultural self-sufficiency with deep roots in Indian identity.

Kala cotton is an “old world” indigenous cotton which is adapted to low water requirements and extremely arid conditions. It is ecologically sustainable and makes the most exquisite cotton cloth.

A Note on Fit:

• The style of this shirt is best worn a little bit looser
• Relaxed shoulder seams

Small: Chest up to 46” / length 29” from shoulder seam to hem. Sleeve length 26".

Medium: Chest up to 48” / length 30” from shoulder seam to hem. Sleeve length 26".

Large: Chest up to 52” / length 31” from shoulder seam to hem. Sleeve length 26.5".

Model: Alex is 5' 8" chest: 41", waist: 34" wearing a size small. 

Care Instructions: Hand wash only in cool water. To protect the natural dyes and natural fabric you absolutely must use a pH neutral liquid detergent. Roll in a towel to remove excess moisture and hang to dry.

Recommended detergents: Ecos, Eucalan, Tru Earth or a mild liquid detergent no higher than pH 7

- Tru Earth must dissolve completely in water before adding garments to wash
